When finding your dream home, it is easy to be enticed by the look and feel before you understand it’s condition. Whilst a survey is not a legal requirement, it could save you thousands of pounds in the long run. According to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), many buyers are unknowingly setting themselves up for an average repair bill of over £5,500. There are typically two types of survey; a Home Survey – Level 2 or a Home Survey – Level 3. Here at The Moving Portal we will look at the property online initially and advise you which level of survey is most suitable for you.

RICS Home Survey - Level 2
Previously known as the HomeBuyer Report.

A survey is a property health check; an expert inspection of a property’s condition, which identifies problems to a prospective buyer. It is completed by a surveyor who visits the property, carries out an inspection and prepares a report on what they’ve found. Before commissioning a survey, you should ensure that the surveyor is qualified and a current practising member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). All surveyors on The Moving Portal’s panel are RICS accredited.
